We provided design consultancy for the renovation Barro Santo restaurant, located within the National Museum of Anthropology and History. Aware of the great responsibility involved intervening in one of the most important architectural and cultural spaces in the world, and maintaining the original work by Pedro Ramírez Vázquez, Rafael Mijares, and Jorge Campuzano, we carried out a re-interpretation of the original design, integrating contemporary design elements.
As a starting point, we took the original ceiling panel with its pre-Hispanic symbol and made various proposals to explore how it could be incorporated into the space.
Materials such as plaster and wood were proposed as a tribute to the design and architecture of the 20th century.
Based on the pre-Hispanic elements from the ceiling panel, we proposed the creation of patterns that could be applied to different surfaces.
